Starting a band/musician thread may require an introduction for those not familiar with the topic (which includes some biography research, sifting out unnecessary details, choosing an attractive song, etc.). Composing it takes some time and other resources, not too much, but those precious things are not to be wasted if we can prevent it. Ideas can accidentally coincide, so I suggest sharing them here. Then we'll be able to work on the topics which no one else is getting ready .
It happens sometimes that one loses interest in creating a certain thread. It's desirable to "disclaim" it then (on condition that it was shared here before, naturally), so that other people could create it if they wish. It's also possible to negotiate on a thread someone desperately wants to start while someone else claimed it first but feels like, "Maybe I'll do it next month if I'm in the right mood, or next year, or will forget about it altogether...". If this thread proves useful, it could be pinned so that the users see it first thing when they go to the Bands section. But the first first thing is the users themselves, so it's a long way off .
As for me, I intend to create a Lycia (dark wave) thread, but I haven't started yet and I probably won't any time soon, so it's open to negotation. I also think of a dark OSTs thread, which won't actually require an extensive introduction, so I don't mind if someone else creates it. No other ideas yet. They only cross my mind when they see fit... and it really doesn't seem very fit on New Year's early Eve .

Lycia will totally need an intro for some who aren't as deep into dark music as some of us are. Back in the day there was the Sandman comic which you may be aware of, they used to do ads for Projekt bands, one of them was for Lycia's Ionia, said it was the darkest thing ever, so I rushed to the cd store and got lucky, they had one in stock. The ad was right, that album was dark. I'm looking up current info on the Sisters, its not looking good. Seems all of their albums have gone out of print. Kind of hard to get new fans for the bands when they can't buy their cd's. Sure, Spotify, but I prefer not to recommend digital since bands don't make as much that way.

So, it appears I’m still able to keep my word, even though it takes me incredibly long . I hope someone will find that Lycia thread good enough to check the band out. Now it’s time to move on, and I have a question. Deviancy , are there any stricter criteria then being “dark rock” for bands to be covered here? Lycia seems to belong to the genre all right, but I’m not sure about others I might want to discuss. Frankly speaking, proper gothic/deathrock, new wave and all those haven’t ever been my thing (maybe they will, but presently they aren’t). Of course, the greater part of the music I like originated from that older dark rock, but I don’t know if it kind of allows me to create threads about it. How about metal, electro-industrial, neofolk? Bands like Dead Can Dance?
Actually I thought on finishing Lycia thread that I might do Ataraxia and Red Flag next. Ataraxia is an Italian neofolk band whose early demos sound just a bit like gothic rock (or what I perceive as such), but most of their music is nowhere near that. American Red Flag is just synthpop, pure electronic, although a lot of their songs won’t ever be aired by your ordinary radio station I think. Their first album is what I personally consider fine pop music, but then it seems to get more complex and gloomy. Rather different from contemporary pop, but definitely not rock .
I just wouldn't want to waste my time on threads that won't fit into the forum . ?

It doesn't even have to be dark rock, can be dark whatever genre.
Whole name of the game of Ookie Spookie was always to be about what the listener (music), viewer (films), player (games), considers dark.
For example this song is seriously dark.. and its by Warrant..
How is it dark,at the time it was about how kids were becoming violent with guns.
While I find this to be fun and dark.....
So I'll leave it the hands of those who post on what consider is spookie/dark..

I thought the idea is about dark of any sort, but the Bands section description reads "place to discuss dark ROCK", so I had to ask just in case. Cool example songs, by the way
