Summer is coming Hey ๐ Thanks for the Fahrenheit there!...lol, I'm terrible at the metric system! ๐ It's nice to get an idea of what your climate is like in your spot on the world. ๐

85ยฐF today. I'm afraid to open my window . Far from what it can be like in America, but that's enough for me . Well, this spring was very cold. The summer's probably going to make up for it...
Ah, you're welcome, converting Celsius to Fahrenheit takes just one click on the weather vidget, and I know ยฐF is widely used in the USA. But it's not a usual system for me, so I'm, in turn, terrible at it . However, I'm already used to 12-hour clock (well, we use it here too, but 24-hour one seems to be getting more and more popular), so it's time to go on with other unfamiliar scales. I don't think I'll ever move to a country where those scales are used, but it's just a sort of an intellectual exercise .

Here around Dallas we are in the bottom end of what is called 'tornado alley'. It stretches up from here through the plains states. Spring is the start of tornado season and it goes on into summer. Just some info in a nutshell there. ๐๐ Here's what we have going on right now....

I understand how 85F (and up) is VERY uncomfortable for many in cooler climates. ๐You have my sympathies Johanne. My grandmother was from Dublin, she came to this country in 1948. The heat here was often quite troublesome for her, she just wasn't made for it. But she coped very well through the summers, til the winters came. Then she would be much happier. Me....I'm much more indigenous. 85F is a good day to open up all the windows and doors and turn the ceiling fans on high. ๐ Stay cool and safe, J.! ๐

Summer is coming So what are your highest temps like at the peak of the dog days of summer, Johanne?๐ (I'm not sure where your latitude is exactly, need to check out the maps some time.)
We've got more of the same heat, but it's been a bit cooler. Breezy this a.m.

As I recall (not checking the info anywhere), it can reach 95-100 โ, but I think it isn't a stable temperature during the whole day. Maybe just for a while here and there. As you may guess, the hottest time often coincides with the final phase of summer heat, when the earth, pavement and buildings are overheated after weeks of 80-90โ and cannot cool thoroughly even at night. But the first half of summer can pamper us with rather cool and rainy/windy days sometimes
Thanks for all your good wishes . We've just had a few temperature-nice days and may have even more very soon (judging from the screenshot). I've always been a cold-weather fan . Well I did grow up in a relatively cool and rainy place, but I'm not sure it explains everything. To my mind, many people in Ukraine and Russia (the latter generally has lower temperatures) prefer quite warm weather - about 80-85 (some woudn't mind even higher), which is already not comfortable with me. But some other people seem like to have been born for living in the deep North, although they never moved and their close ancestors had lived in the same place they live for many decades . It's probably what's called "genetic lottery" (in a broad sense). I'm kind of happy in comparison to my friend who lives in European part of Russia (it's not as cold there as it can be in the far East of the country): she says she stops feeling completely comfortable at 68โ. And one should note that central heating there (it can't be turned off) makes the temperature inside an apartment always higher than that. The heating's off for summer and first part of autumn, but then it's all warm and stuffy due to natural heat. How awful .
I think my temp gray zone is 75-78 (meaning I don't hate it), so I should consider myself lucky

Thank you so much The Wolf . We've had almost everything - heat, cold, thunderstorms. To be honest, weather is now the least of my worries (well it's not as bad as in other places, I know; otherwise I'd be concerned too). I'd love to reply to your older posts here, but I have other things to attend to - much more boring, but much more important to my living... Hope to be able to enjoy a leisurely talk with you again some day. I wish you all the luck, strength and patience. Maybe some environmental initiatives will be finally supported by the governments (in Europe and USA) to affect climate just a bit (but that isn't going to happen soon even if they start now)
And I love how you're having fun in this silent mansion no matter what

Don't you dare worry about older posts. We will speak again, and have some nice long talks...eventually...somewhere. ๐๐
Right now you just stay safe, and keep on having your stoic, brave and cheerful frame of mind. You are courageous, and have my admiration.
And I have all you might need in my good willing, wishing and prayers daily. ๐โค๐
๏ฟฝ๐
I will come back to check on you, as soon as I can. You know where to find me, should you ever want to. And I know where to find you. ๐
For now, from here, in my place and time.... "Long Days and Pleasant Nights" my friend. Stay cool too....
